Thurs 30 May – Carnarvon

Late yesterday Clive saw a request for someone going to Carnarvon to drop off some goods (as it turned out, boxes of toys) eventually bound for the Aboriginal settlement at Gascoyne.  A very amusing hour or so at the house of the requestor had him meeting Tim Ferguson, a born-again Christian; sort of half way house owner; and ex-minister.  Clive not only picked up the toys but was treated to a piano recital by Tim’s wife, an introduction to two visiting Jehovah’s Witnesses, a tour of the house and a personally signed and annotated copy of Tim’s self-published book.
Other than delivering the toys to the front verandah of local Councillor ‘Patch’, our visit to Carnarvon was rather un-eventful.  We were not enthused to check it out much so just stayed a night in the caravan park (with barking dogs and crying children) and headed off North the next morning.
