Fri 31 May – beyond Coral Bay

We hit Coral Bay and found it to be a nice spot but due to the long weekend fairly busy, and very windy today.  After checking out some information on diving (snorkelling) with the whale sharks and 4WD tracks between here and the Cape Range NP, we headed off to further North to find ourselves a quiet spot for the next few days.  We’ll return to Coral Bay for the whale shark encounter after the long weekend.
We found a great spot somewhere between Coral Bay and the Ningaloo Homestead.  We’re between the dunes, just off the beach.  Good spot despite some wind.  We know the forecast for the next two days is windy, so we’re just sitting it out.  The wind died off towards evening.

Huge termite mounds on the way to Coral Bay

Another one.  They're quite hard to the touch - like rock.

And more....  they're everywhere

On the 4WD track, north of Coral Bay

Our camp spot between the dunes

The beach was all ours.  Enjoyed a couple of walks here and Clive a couple of quick swims.

Around sunset

No clouds, so the sunset was just a full corona - very impressive display.
